The Chamber has actively engaged city and county officials regarding the lack of enforcement of the Sidewalk Vending ordinance, and it has become a public topic of discussion for them in public meetings over the last few weeks.
In our discussions with officials, we emphasized the importance of promoting compliance among vendors. We firmly believe that when more vendors adhere to the regulations, they become stakeholders in maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
Julie Roche and Angela Andrews have actively engaged in discussions concerning these matters. Their dedication underscores the Chamber's commitment to fostering constructive dialogue with local government, facilitating the resolution of community concerns.
The City has put out a guide to Sidewalk Vending & Related Permitting. They will be holding monthly workshops about the Sidewalk Vending Permit process and the Sidewalk Vendor Ordinance. The workshops will guide you through the Sidewalk Vending Permit process and answer any questions you have about the regulations and permit process. Computers will be available to begin applying for a Sidewalk Vending Permit.
All workshops are to be held at the Downtown Hayward Library in the Tech Center room and run from monthly from February 29 – July 25.
