The next meeting of the Hayward Chamber of Commerce's Hayward Nonprofit Alliance will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 16 and feature a presentation from Jacqui Diaz (photo), public information officer for the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District.

The program will kick off with a brief presentation about how the Cal State East Bay Women in Leadership program this fall will have students work with nonprofits on service projects. WIL director Asha Rao will explain the details and how to connect with the student program.

Jacqui Diaz will then speak on, "Back to the Future in Communicating with your Community." An expert in strategic planning, communications and community engagement, she will discuss how nonprofits coming into recovery mode will need to address communications that will bring their members back in the fold, attract new ones, and engage the community.

"In the past year and a half, nonprofits have had to demonstrate their value to members and donors more than ever," said Kim Huggett, president and CEO of the Hayward Chamber of Commerce. "Jacqui has particular expertise in this area and we are fortunate to have her as a presenter to the Hayward Nonprofit Alliance."

Attendees will also have the opportunity to share news about upcoming activities of their organizations.
