Vera Hannush (photo left), Bay Area development officer for chamber-member Covenant House California, will discuss the importance of telling donors how you protect their identity as they make tax-deductible donations. She will also discuss how an organization needs to openly share how faithfully it meets the intent of each gift with audit reports.
At the group's June 16 meeting, participants heard a presentation from Hayward's Patrick Hart, owner of DualStar Digital, on “Getting Donors to Make Online Gifts at your Nonprofit’s Secure Website.” He shared the importance of having data contingency plans incase of cyber attack, and making sure potential donors always have a "sense of security" about committing donations to a nonprofit's website.
All members of the Hayward Chamber of Commerce (there are more than 100 nonprofit organizations in membership) and their guests are welcome to attend meetings of the Hayward Nonprofit Alliance. The group has been meeting virtually every month since March of 2020, and monthly for the past 12 years, but members are now considering the benefits of going back to in-person meetings.
